Your First Showroom Visit: A Buyer's Checklist
Everything to check before you buy — hallmark, weight, making charges, certificates and exchange policy.

Buying jewellery in person is a joy — you can see the colour, feel the weight and try every piece. A simple checklist helps you buy with complete confidence.
Check the Hallmark
Every gold piece should carry the BIS logo, the purity grade (such as 22K916) and a six-digit HUID code that you can verify on the BIS CARE app.
Ask for a Price Breakup
- Gold weight and the day's gold rate.
- Making charges, shown as a percentage or per gram.
- Stone weight and value, charged separately from gold.
- GST applied on the final value.
Collect Every Document
Ask for an itemised invoice and diamond certificates, and understand the exchange and buyback policy before you pay.
